New Ways To Explore The Maven
New Ways To Explore The Maven
You could ask us again and again why we love being Mavens, and each time we’d come up with an answer that’s as true as the last. But one thing that will never change is that we’re always offering new ways to stay and explore, and with the new year in full swing, there’s no better time to lean into something new. This month, when you step through the doors, we invite you to read between the lines, notice the brushstrokes, and find handcrafted discoveries in more ways than one.
It’s our motto: handcrafted discovery awaits around every corner at The Maven. From the moment you enter, there’s a lot to take in – from the shining airstream, to the wooden hand, the stained glass above the bar at Poka Lola and unique touches like the leather couches and sculptural details. Each art piece you see was created by a local artist as an homage to Colorado’s rich creative history and the human instinct to make, connect, and build.
The Quantifiable & The Ineffable is hard to miss: the massive wooden hand hanging in the lobby alludes to powerful, innate human elements like connection and touch, vulnerability and strength. Meticulously sculpted by Andrew Ramiro Tirado, The Quantifiable & The Ineffable is the first foray into what The Maven is all about: the beauty behind the makers and creative exploration.
As you make your way to the elevators, take a moment to pause and look at another iconic Maven piece: Dark Matter Gathering. Made of a collection of over 200 black and white photos, artist Travis Hetman has offered a glimpse into an infinite universe just inside our elevator lobby. Through careful placement, every cluster becomes a stage where nothing is separate, yet an endless realm of possibilities exists.

Although The Maven at Dairy Block sits comfortably in Denver’s LoDo neighborhood, a Maven’s adventure extends far beyond the city limits. For first timers and seasoned skiers alike, we’re excited to offer guests one of the easiest ways to plan a ski day-trip to Copper Mountain (approx an hour and a half from The Maven) – complete with après hot chocolate and mountain views.
For Mavens craving that feeling of freedom as you slide down the slopes, book a day trip to Copper Mountain directly from the hotel, through our front desk team. We’ll connect you with our trusted guiding company, making The Maven one of the best Denver hotels to stay at before heading up to the mountains. And fear not: no pass or gear necessary.
If you are a season pass holder for 2025-2026, enjoy 20% off your stay (you must present your pass at check-in to redeem this offer) to sweeten the deal.
An iconic Colorado staple, Copper Mountain is one of the top ski resorts near Denver, and a classic for newcomers and locals alike. With stunning views of the front range and over 100 trails to explore, Copper offers the ultimate day trip. Even this season, the mountain still boasts 18 of 23 open lifts and 89 open trails. From beginner terrain like EZ Rider and Green Acres to the epic Copper Bowl, there’s plenty of terrain to scratch the itch. Copper also offers tubing for the family, shopping in the village, and several lodges both at the base and summit so you can warm up with a hot chocolate and crispy fries before heading back to your chic city-stay at The Maven.

As Mavens, we’ve mastered the art of “work from hotel”, balancing productivity with inspiration, comfort, and the perfectly timed coffee break. With both spacious worktables and cozy corners, plenty of options for that post-work cocktail or a well-deserved lunch break, there’s no place to take advantage of remote work like The Maven.
Every great workday begins with breakfast, so take a moment to stop by the airstream and check out the fresh burritos ($10) or yogurt parfait ($8), and don’t forget a steaming cup of joe (complimentary for Maven guests) to top it all off. After you’ve fueled up at the airstream, choose from dozens of work-friendly spots to maximize productivity:
- Center worktables in the lobby with outlets, lamps, and generous desk space
- Chairs or couches perfect for settling in for a few well-focused hours
- In-room work desks for peace and quiet
When lunch time rolls around, be sure to stop by Kachina Cantina for southwestern fare like the El Capitan Bowl ($15) or the classic Taco Plate ($19), or head to Denver Milk Market for options like sandwiches from Bos Butcher & Deli, dumplings from YumCha, lamb tibs from Konjo Ethiopian Food, and more.
Nothing says the workday is done like happy hour: when that “slams laptop shut” moment arrives, step into Poka Lola for deals like The Comeback Kid with Astral Blanco and pineapple for $12 and Crispy Frites with lemon aioli for $7.
