Holiday Magic In The Mile High

Holiday Magic In The Mile High

There's no question that winter in Colorado is extraordinary, but there's a special magic about the holidays in the heart of the Mile High City. From twinkling city sidewalks, to bustling holiday markets and more, Denver sparkles like nowhere else.

Your holiday cheer starts right here, the moment you check in. From festive yet elegant lobby decor to seasonal cocktails at Poka Lola, the warmth of the season invites you to hunker down -- or to get up and explore a winter wonderland right here at Dairy Block.

Sometimes we just want to relax, cozy up, and enjoy a fresh snowfall. When that coziness calls, book the Mistletoe Movie Magic and choose from several holiday favorites like Elf, Love Actually, The Grinch, White Christmas, or Die Hard to watch in-room, all while enjoying specialty snacks and a cocktail from Poka Lola, inspired by your movie choice. So go ahead, cancel those plans.

Cocktails calling? Head downstairs and into Poka Lola for seasonal sips like Spice Spice Baby with chai and apple brandy, or Gourd Vibes Only with pumpkin spice and house coconut cream. If you're looking to give back this season, you can opt for our Chalet Have Another, made with house-made rosemary grenadine, and we'll donate $1 to Hungry To Help to contribute to their mission of fighting food insecurity. Don't forget to come back and visit in December to experience The North PL; a winter hideaway that transforms Poka Lola into a wonderland of sparkles, spirits, and wonder.

When supper time hits, there's only one answer: Kachina Cantina. With a new menu filled with delectable bites that'll warm you from the inside out, Kachina Cantina offers a vibrant, welcoming space for date night, family dinner, or a quiet bite solo. For the entire month of November, Kachina Cantina will also be donating $1 from every signature Taco Plate sold to the Food Bank of the Rockies to show support for those in need this season.

*Maven insider tip: order our favorite winter dish, the Chiltepin-Crusted Pork Belly -- it's warm, comforting, and perfect for chilly days!

The winter experience extends far beyond the lobby -- so bundle up, step out the door, and explore. Stop into cozy noodle houses for comforting bowls of soup, grab your running shoes for Fun Runs, and take in the wonder of downtown Denver among the sparkle of lights, stars, and snow.

Denver may boast 360 days of sunshine, but that's not to say the winter months don't also bring bitter temperatures that chill to the bone. When the winds whip, take cover in Jinya Ramen Bar, located just a few blocks down on Wynkoop Street. Warm your hands around a bowl of Tonkotsu Black or Shrimp Wonton Ramen, because the best holiday shopping break always includes soup.

If you're someone who enjoys the bright, chilly mornings of Denver winters, then lace up your sneakers and head to Union Station on November 29th at 11am, and join dozens of Denverites as they take on the cold for the second annual Dashing Thru LoDo Fun Run. The Fun Run will take you through Dairy Block and McGregor Square, so you'll get a mile-long tour of some of downtown's most iconic spots. After finishing back at Union Station, you can enjoy discounts on food, drinks, and shopping around the neighborhood. Grab the family, the dog, and your best holiday costume -- we'll see you there!

A Crowd Of People Outside A Building

Nothing says "holidays" like lights -- and lots of 'em. Each year at the end of November, Union Station pulls out all the stops with their Grand Illumination, a miraculous display of a 40-foot Christmas tree complete with over 7,000 lights, visits from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and family-friendly entertainment. Then, head over to McGregor Square for ice skating, and cross the street to The North PL for a seasonal cocktail.

There's more magic here: with the first snow comes the promise of hot chocolate and family, Christmas carols and movies, and feasts and friends, all in the heart of LoDo. Book your stay at The Maven and experience the magic of the holidays, just beyond the lobby.
